OBJECTIVES OF THE MICRO-GRID ACADEMY The Micro-Grid Academy (MGA) was launched in January 2018; in its pilot years of training activities, it aims to train over 200 students per year and it has managed to reach more than 1095 people mainly from the East-African countries as well as Ethiopia, Congo, Mozambique, Zambia, South Africa and others.

The Ethiopian Women in Energy Association hosted the first learning field trip for the 21st Edition of the Micro-Grid Academy training. The new online session, which focused on solar mini-grids, was held between the 25th of January and the 3rd of February 2022. The training was delivered online via video lectures for six days.

Micro-Grid Academy in Kenya to expand training capacity
The Academy is meant to create a skilled workshop to deploy renewable energy solutions within and beyond the East Africa region. Launched in January 2018 the Academy has trained more than 500 students so far from the East African Community partner states as well as from Zambia, Ethiopia and Europe.
